Questions

Home care questions, answered

Here are clear answers to the questions Upper North Shore families ask us most. If yours is not here, get in touch and we will gladly talk it through.

Getting started and costs

  • How much does private home care cost on the North Shore?

Private care is charged at a clear hourly rate, confirmed in writing before care begins, based on the type of care and the hours you choose. If you hold a Home Care Package, we can help you use it. There are no hidden fees.

  • Do you provide registered nurses or just carers?

Both, with a registered nurse leading the care. Carers provide day-to-day support while a nurse oversees the plan and handles the clinical work.

  • How quickly can care be arranged?

Private care can usually begin within a few days, starting with a home visit from a registered nurse. Package-funded care begins once your funding is ready.

Funding and packages

  • What does a Home Care Package cover?

Usually nursing, personal care, help with daily living, some household help, equipment and transport, depending on your plan. We will go through exactly what applies to you.

  • What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the Australian Government's home care program that is replacing Home Care Packages, bringing in-home support under one system. We can explain how it affects you and help you direct your funding.

  • Do I need a package to receive care?

No. Many of our clients arrange care privately and begin promptly, with or without a package in place.

Our care

  • Will the same carers return?

Wherever possible, yes. We keep a small, hand-picked team around each client so the faces stay familiar and trusted.

  • Can you care for someone with dementia at home?

Yes. With registered nurse oversight and steady routines, many people with dementia live well at home. We also support the family and provide respite.

  • Which areas do you cover?

The Upper North Shore and Ku-ring-gai, including Turramurra, Gordon, Pymble, St Ives, Lindfield, Killara, Roseville, Wahroonga, Chatswood and Lane Cove. Get in touch to confirm your suburb.
